LGBTQIA+ Awareness and Liaison Course for EMS & FIRE

LGBTQIA+ Awareness for EMS & FIRE – Training for Trainers

DESCRIPTION: This course prepares instructors to facilitate LGBT awareness training for EMS and FIRE personnel.

The learning outcomes for this course include:

The student will identify the required course content for LGBT awareness training.
The student will understand how to use learning activities to deliver course content related to LGBT awareness training for EMS and FIRE.
The student will identity the documents required to get a course of training certified by the IEFPA.

Participants will have access to a complete training package for the LGBT Awareness For EMS and FIRE course
including a student workbook and the instructor guide with course outlines, lesson plans, and learning activities (all in
PDF format) and hard copy textbook. This course is presented in partnership with Out To Protect Inc.

DATE: Thursday, October 12, 2023 – 8:30 am to 4:30 pm

COST: General Admission: $100.00 | Member Admission $80.00 includes course fees, materials, certificate, and lunch.

CERTIFICATIONS: Course Completion Certificate will be presented to attendees.

REGISTRATION: Payment by credit or debit card. Payment is due at the time of registration and becomes non-refundable 10
days prior to the start of the class.

Attire: Casual attire required. Smoking, vaping, and use of all tobacco products is prohibited.

Required Equipment: Students are required to bring a laptop computer. Access to WiFi will be provided onsite.

DESCRIPTION: This course prepares students to develop and operate an LGBTQ+ EMS and Fire Liaison program. The
learning outcomes for this course include:

Identity key tasks and responsibilities of the LGBT Liaison.
Identify and cultivate communication pathways between the LGBT Liaison and community.
Identify key stakeholders, individuals and organizations, to initiate and bolster effective relationships.
Design community events to build awareness and inclusion within your department and the LGBTQ+ community.

This course is provided by the International EMS & Firefighters Pride Alliance in partnership with Out To Protect.
